Non-profit organization project, students were assigned to design for a non-profit. The constraints and parameters were left pretty loose, among a variety of dictated deliverable categories to work within. I selected White Memorial Conservation Center, close by in Litchfield CT, with the self-serving purpose of situating myself in its nature confines as often as possible while working on this project (exploring, researching, photographing). Much of this project’s duration occurred over winter. While winter in New England is often aesthetically pleasing, much of nature’s splendor that I wanted to communicate visually was simply not around. That is why I resorted to illustration for much of what is shown here.
EBFF is not a religious event. Rather it is a gathering for the faction of today’s society whom is ‘spiritual but not religious’. Its events are either Native American or Wiccan themed, and takes place around Wiccan New Year, Samhain, which coincides with Halloween. In addition to live music, EBFF features musical performances and food & beverage.
Created in Adobe Illustrator, this project tested students' comprehension of web aesthetics and usability fundamentals. We were provided the assets and body copy, and given creative freedom to modify the visual elements. I elected to design a proprietary logo mark, and to include the photograph that appears in the feature section of the home page, of my friends on their bicycles. I devised the color palate, and modified the photographs to match it.
While this project did not require great technical exertion, I recall its completion being laborious. Students were tasked to develop a wayfinding system for City Zoo, and provided no requisite info. The entire layout, including the classification of exhibits, is of my own construct. That was the significant initial challenge. After that, the aesthetic component was fun and engaging.
